NINTH YEAR ANNIVERSARY?
Nine years on and two of our terrestrial British television companies have recently had programs on 9/11. You can understand a tenth year anniversary program but why after nine. Maybe this is due to the truth movement being heard by a larger percentage of the population. Was the programs produced to try and keep the official government conspiracy theory high in the mind of the general public.
It a shame that British television time was wasted, when instead they could have been asking questions about the masses of unanswered contradictions in the official report.

From the differing opinions that I have heard and read regarding why the towers almost completely and utterly turned to dust, from satellites with particle beam technology to the use of high explosives there is one thing that is certain. I find it very hard to believe that a couple of aluminium tubes (the planes) were fully responsible for completely disintegrating the two towers. Why did the constituent parts of the buildings so completely come apart causing so much dust?

In the story it is said that when the Brown Dwarf Star Nibiru passes this way it also brings along its satellites. Common Sense dictates that if reality doesn’t agree with one’s idea, be it hypothesis or theory, then it calls on you to look for another answer.
Take Neils Bohr for instance, once he admitted to himself that what he guessed (hypothesized, theorised) as dictated by doctrine was wrong, his Common Sense kicked in forcing him to look for a different answer.
It was also Common Sense that told Alfred Wegener that if two continental land masses have the same leading edge and the same geological formations such as mountain ranges are on either side of the divide and when placed together they meet up, then originally the two continents were one and had split apart.
Another fine example of someone who was not bogged down by religious fervour and used his Common Sense was Einstein. This allowed him to visualise the gravitational effect.

There are different theories as why this is happening. Some put it down to CERN with its Hadron Collider; others say HAARP is to blame as the energy companies search for more oil reserves. A FOLLOW UP TO LAST WEEKS LOOK AT THE SCIENTIFIC ATTITUDE
After taking a somewhat critical look at traditional scientific attitude to new ideas (if you haven’t seen last week’s edition, see in the side bar ‘The Multiverse News and Comment Archives 2010- August’), this week there is a balancing opinion.
I have been in written discussion with a devotee of science. He goes under the username of HawthornOwl on YouTube and responded originally to a comment I made on a YouTube video and I would like to thank him for explaining his point of view.

My main concern with certain people of a purely scientific persuasion has always been that in order to try and prove themselves right, they have slipped into an extremely arrogant know it all attitude. This leads me to conclude that they are behaving just like a modern day religion.
They are taught as an academic youth to automatically have and develop this frame of mind, just like the religions of the past. This religious like belief in their own tenets and knowing for sure that they their way of thinking is undoubtedly correct has led them to developing a caged mind. Wegner’s theory on continental drift-

Another problem was that flaws in Wegener's original data caused him to make some incorrect and outlandish predictions: he suggested that

Being someone who is aware of both the spiritual and the scientific sides of life I am sure in the end all sides will come together but in the mean time the discussions goes on.

Also as a religion, science has slaughtered more people than any other and what is even more disturbing is that its priests are actually proud of their instruments of death that they have invented.

No, that is not what a scientific theory is. A /hypothesis/ is educated guesswork. A /theory/ is a set of principles that have been confirmed by making predictions. For example, Newtonian gravity is a theory because it makes predictions about how bodies move, and those predictions have been tested and shown to be accurate.

It's not quite like that. It's more a case of gradually approaching the truth.
For a common example, consider how our idea of the shape of the earth has changed.
In the beginning, people may have thought it was flat.
The ancient Greeks realised it was spherical, and even calculated its diameter.
Centuries later, we realised it's not actually spherical; all planets bulge because of their rotation, so it is in fact an oblate spheroid.
And in the 20th century, we realised that that's not true either - one half of the word bulges more than the other. It's asymmetric.
These are not random guesses. Each time, we increase the accuracy of the guess and become more correct every time. That's science.

Rubbish. Show me anything that even hints at this being true. Any piece of evidence. You don't have any.

That's Kent Hovind. Hovind is a liar, a cheat, and is wrong on pretty much everything he says. Hey, you don't even have to take my word for it; watch him bluster on about genetics some time and get all the terms wrong, while claiming to know what he's talking about.

Wrong. Alfred Wegener had no evidence. He was correct, but he could not find the evidence for his idea, so science didn't accept it. 50 years later, we had enough evidence to know that he was correct.
Can you back up any of your claims at all? Who regarded him as crazy? Which scientists were devotees of blind faith? I reckon you're just inventing all this.

Science is a method of gathering knowledge - it is not a religion, and it can't 'slaughter' a person. And again, you're inventing this as you go along. Name one scientist who is 'proud' of their 'instruments of death'.
I suggest that you are knowingly talking rubbish, but feel free to reply with some evidence and prove me wrong.
The reason I write with such seemingly outlandish statements is to make scientific people think about how they come across to us mere mortals. I’m afraid there is too often the impression given that science knows it all and anyone outside of the gang knows little to nothing. Dr. Machio Kaku and Brian Cox are two of my favourite scientists (particle physics being my favourite scientific subject) as they can talk to the uneducated without coming across as arrogant. This is a skill which is lacking in so many devotees of science and I feel this should be taught in any curriculum.
I do know how science is supposed to work and how it comes to its conclusions but it quite often doesn’t come across at all like this. Rather than admitting that a theory is wrong scientists tend to just brush it under the carpet and quickly try again. This why so many people like myself regard science as just another modern day religion. Humility wouldn’t go amiss when they are proved wrong.
Do you really think that all the scientists that invent bullets, bombs and other forms of mass slaughter aren’t proud of their creations and go home and feel really bad about their work? I don’t think so and I think that there is little doubt that these inventions of mass slaughter have been responsible for more death and destruction than any religion of the past.
Alfred Wegener used the evidence of his own eyes and common sense; it’s not as if it was just an educated guess (theory). I have met plenty of people during my life who are undoubtedly intelligent but lack even a modicum of common sense but still think they are somehow superior and regard anyone who hasn’t been through the academic process as having ideas that are not valid.
I suggest that a lot of followers’ science don’t do themselves any favours with the attitude they have cultivated over the years.
It would be interesting to know your comments on Dr. Robert Gentry’s discoveries regarding Polonium Radio Halo’s and that they are found in Granite. An impression backed up by people who genuinely DON'T know anything about science, yet claim they do. Like Kent Hovind.

It's a nice skill, yes, but it doesn't actually help people do science, which is why not a lot of scientists spend time on it. The fact that you don't understand them is not their problem.

Brush it under the carpet? You mean scientific journals, which are available for anyone to read?

Scientists are human, but as for humility; science is one of the most humbling activities there is. Science is all about trying to prove yourself wrong in the most extreme way, to break everything you have been working toward until it cannot break any more. Ideas fail and are revised. Nothing is sacred or proven, truth is forever beyond our reach.
Can you name any scientist who has not accepted a disproof with humility? I can name some, but not a lot. Where have you got this impression? This is nothing like the science I know.

Firstly, I'm not convinced that scientists are the ones who invent this technology. That would be engineers, who use science to do their work just as they would use a hammer.
An exception might be the Manhattan Project, which was done under wartime threat in response to fears that

I doubt that, although I don't have the numbers. Even so, this is not the fault of the scientific method, but the intentions of the people using it.

I hope not! Common sense is the worst thing a scientist can use! The whole point of science is to PREVENT us using our common sense, and instead test EVERYTHING objectively. If Neils Bohr had used his common sense, he wouldn't have discovered quantum theory. If Einstein had used his common sense, we wouldn't have relativity.

Probably, but I don't believe this attitude exists. In any case, science is a method which is independent of the people who use it - that's why different labs can run the same test and get the same result.

From a purely 'common sense' point of view - Gentry is young earth creationist. He believes the world is six thousand years old. He believes that a magical entity flooded the world because a book told him so. He has invented his own cosmology to fit with the bible myths. In short, there is absolutely no reason to trust him, at all, and every reason to believe his only intent is to spread his religion.
From the scientific point of view, his work has never passed peer review, almost every scientist disagrees with him, and almost every piece of evidence disagrees with him. I am not a scientist, so I cannot critique his work, but others have done so, and I find more reason to believe them than I do him. If you believe him, I ask why you reject all the scientists who don't.

Schweitzer did not find any blood cells in the T-Rex bone. At best, she found traces of hemoglobin proteins and couldn't even be sure they were from the sample. Again, you can read the rebuttals yourself - I never studied biology, so you'd be beginning from exactly the same place as me.
However, I will note that the creationist interpretation of the findings is noticeably flawed. Wieland, for example, begins by claiming that the bones are fossilized and ends up claiming they're unfossilized. If you really get the facts on creationist propaganda, you'll find they distort and misrepresent science all the time (heck, even the 'evolution is just a theory' line should make you wary of trusting them).

I didn’t know Kent Howard claimed to know anything about science, I only know him for explaining that science cut Dr. Gentry’s scientific funding after he published his research, is this wrong?
On the point of Dr. Gentry, I know he is of a certain type of religious thought which would bias him in what he believes to be true but like anyone who is religious or not, this does not prejudice me against them.
You say that almost all other scientists disagree with him and that he has never passed pear review on his research. Do you know which scientist do agree with him and can you point me to the evidence of the other scientists that have followed up his findings regarding the Polonium Halo’s.? Do they say that they don’t exist or that Dr. Gentry is wrong in is assertion of why they are there? If they are there, what are the other theories (or dare I say, educated guesswork) as to why they are there?
Scientists may not have pulled the individual triggers when humans died throughout modern history even if they were just the hammers (as you put it) but surely they must be at the very least partly responsible because they allowed themselves to be handled to make such weaponry? It’s not as if they can claim that they were just obeying orders.
Surely a bit of common-sense wouldn’t go amiss in all of science, yes a scientific method can be used after to prove or disprove an idea but I think rejecting it to start with just blinds people and can slow up finding a truth. Surely it is common sense that opens people eyes to thinking differently; surly it’s this that led to the leaps in particle physics because it allowed the mind to wonder and see outside the cage of a conventional scientific mind set.
I have only seen an interview with of Prof. Schweitzer which I assume was made just after she announced her discovery and might well be her playing upto the cameras. If what you say is true then it is certainly sad for a professor to do this, which goes back to prove the similarity between science and religion and that science should be separated form scientists, just like some religious people must not reflect directly on a whole religion.
One thing I do agree with you on is that yes evolution is still a theory. I think it’s a shame though that so many scientists talk about in terms as if it was fact just because they think it logically the most likely answer. This is another example of a caged mind as they try and prove that traditional religious thinking is wrong.

You can reject ideas if there is sufficient evidence against them.

You've not seen his work? Hovind is one of the most well known creationists, just watch any of his videos on youtube.
I don't know the details of what happened to Gentry, but I wouldn't trust Hovind to give the facts.

To be honest, I don't know exactly which scientists agree or disagree, but if his work never got through peer review, it means it either failed, or was never even submitted, which means that Gentry wasn't following scientific procedure.

There is a page on Talk Origins refuting the polonium halos, written by a professional geologist, and it explains it quite well; however, you may not understand it, and you may also consider Talk Origins to be biased. However, assuming that page is correct, the explanation for the halos seems to be that the rocks are not primordial as Gentry claims, and that there is little evidence that the halos are the result of polonium.

Of course they were partly responsible. That says more about the people than the method they were using.

No! You have science all wrong. Science can /never/ prove an idea. It can get close, but the best we can say is that a hypothesis is very well evidenced. To 'prove' a hypothesis would mean that there is no more to discover about it, and we can never know if that is.
Disproving ideas, however, is easy, and the idea of science is that when you simply can't disprove the hypothesis no matter how hard you try, it is a useful result. It may not be /true/, but it is enough for us to do science with.
Common sense blinds us because we are prejudiced to take the world as we see it.

Again, no, it's exactly backward. Take Bohr, for example; he tried to figure out how electrons stay in orbit around atoms, when by our common sense understanding, they should just lose all their energy as light (accelerating charges emit radio waves) and spiral into the nucleus.
Neils Bohr ignored his common sense. He suggested something totally ridiculous; that electrons can only orbit in specific energy levels, that are an integer multiple of some number. It was nonsense, there was no reason for this to be true. And yet, this solved the problem. The 'some number' was a 'quantum' of energy. It gave birth to quantum physics, which also makes no sense, but is the most accurate description we have of particles.

I agree that Schweitzer was wrong to announce the way she did, and yes, people should also understand the difference between science and the humans who do science.

Unfortunately you still don't understand what a theory is [and hawlthorn owl doesn’t understand irony]. A theory is what you have after you've tested your hypothesis and found it to be useful and predictive. It's not a guess.
The problem with evolution is that it has two sides; the theory, which is very complex population genetics that describes how animals and their genes change over time; and the fact, which is the large amount of evidence that exists for common descent of all lifeforms.
The latter side is the side that people do not understand. They don't understand why the gene sequences of lifeforms living today are near undeniable evidence for evolution. They don't understand why the fossils we find are near undeniable evidence for evolution. They don't understand any of this evidence, why it is so strong that it would be ridiculous not to call it a fact by now.

No scientist does that. They simply describe the world by testing predictions. They're describing reality, not religion.

LLOYD TELLS THE LOSERS TO POKE IT! AND RIGHTLY SO
Jonathan Kerr-Smiths ten minute video has gone viral on the internet with 110,000 hits in just ten days. The phenomenal success of the video has stirred quite a bit of interest now within the scientific community as well as with some new people with money to invest.
Three credited Scientists, two more geneticists and a microbiologist have contacted Lloyd to say that they are behind what is trying to be accomplished here, whilst several others have displayed outrage by saying that only their way of doing things is acceptable and Lloyd should submit to their demands. Why would you ask short sighted individuals to show you the way? Lloyd has politely told them, no thanks.

As you see, he's saying we definitely have proof that part of the Starchild's nuclear DNA is not found within Earth's animal kingdom. Unfortunately, his discovery is only partial, not yet enough to slam the lid shut on sceptics. But that is coming. When he has the entire genome in hand, enough to translate some sequences into never-before-seen proteins, that will nail the lid tight and change history forever. It is within our grasp to do that right now. All we need is help finishing the job that is already well underway.
